Baler, March 2019. I will never forget those days. I had some of my happiest moments of this year. And life could have not been simpler. We would spend our days surfing, riding motorcycles to waterfalls, forests and mountains, exploring the wild nature. We were a small group of Europeans in the middle of a cute little Filipino town.
We spend our mornings taking the motorbike to beautiful beaches with crazy waves (often too crazy for me :D), after getting a (sorry, shitty) coffee, a (amazing) coconut and some mangoes and bananas for breakfast. Then we would explore new areas or just chill at the beach. We would always meet for sunset at the beach and NEVER EVER miss one. One evening I convinced everyone to go for karaoke (“no, I hate singing, I can’t sing” – everyone said – which changed quickly after a few hours) and some beers and that evening turned out to be one of the funniest ever!
I remember my friend telling me that she felt such pure happiness and I just felt the same. You want to hold onto it but you have to accept that everything is temporary… I look back with so much gratitude and the certainty that really the best things in life are free. That I just need some good people, some waves, sunshine and freedom to be happy 😉
I am sure so many of you can relate ♥️
